Offshore Support Vessels

Offshore Support Vessels

We own, operate and charter vessels to provide support for exploration, development and production activities in the offshore O&G industry. Equipped with in-house expertise, we are capable to project-manage the construction of our vessels.

We are one of the largest OSV owners and operators in South East Asia with over forty-five vessels ranging from Anchor Handling Towing Support vessels (AHTS), Accommodation Work Boats/ Barges (AWB), Platform Supply Vessels (PSV), Mooring Launches, Safety Standby/ Utility vessels, and Oil Terminal Support Vessels. We are operating on a global scale in different regions of the world; Asia, Africa, Latin America as well as in the Middle East. Our operations have been located in over 10 countries and reflecting our global operations are our rapidly expanding international shore-bases located in Mexico, Venezuela, Nigeria, Brazil, Congo/ Gabon, and Saudi Arabia.

Our vessels and operations are recognized for HSSE excellence and we have been recognised with numerous awards, just to name a few; Talisman Energy's certificates of recognition for Marine HSSE and Operational Excellence (2012), The ExxonMobil Gold award recognizing our hurt-free operations exceeding 100,000 man hours (2010), and Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd awarded the company with a plaque in recognition of its’ vessels HSE performance - 250 days free of Total Recordable Case Frequency.

The company provides services to various majors in the industry including Petróleo Brasileiro (Petrobras), ENI, Saudi Aramco, PETRONAS, ExxonMobil, Shell, and Total among other international oil companies. We also value the importance of collaborating with local parties in the respected countries; we are highly committed on delivering local content in every location where we operate. Our clientele appreciates our proven track record, state-of-the-art fleet and our ability to surpass the HSSE norms.

Being accustomed to operating in remote waters and under harsh conditions, our dedicated staff has been able to successfully manage operations on a global basis.

We replaced older, lower-end and lower tonnage vessels with our “Steel on Water I” (SOW I) fleet expansion programme which was launched in 2006 and was completed in 2010. The programme which comprised 20 new OSVs with a total value of RM1 billion was in anticipation of shifting trends in E&P, away from continental shelf shallow waters into deeper waters and harsher environments which require more sophisticated and higher horsepower OSVs. These newer vessels, with output in excess of 8,000 BHP, are equipped with DP capability and digital global positioning systems that allow the vessels to stay at a programmed position using computer-aided thrusters and propulsion systems. The total installed BHP of our OSVs is over 240,000 BHP.

Working towards realizing a greener, cleaner, safer, and more fuel efficient fleet, in June 2012, Bumi Armada announced its “Steel on Water 2” fleet expansion programme which is a combination of a build and buy strategy. This new build programme will see the construction of four new Multi-Purpose Platform Support Vessels (MPSV) with diesel electric propulsion with a total value of RM400 million with an option to build four additional vessels. The four MPSVs are expected to be delivered by the end of the second quarter of 2014.

We believe that the introduction of these new OSVs has enabled us to strengthen our position in the international offshore oil & gas sector. In congruence with SOW I, this expansion of our fleet means that we are able to better satisfy our customers’ offshore oilfield needs focused on operations at increasing depths. The expansion will give us a more balanced fleet ensuring both capability as well as capacity.
